Things that were wrong with Bruce's new computer

After connecting the wires and cables Bruce tried to get the computer to run. The computer problems were so bad that the system had to be completely reloaded. It took 1 1/2 hours to get it done. Bruce loaded AOL. He figured getting on the internet was the most important thing. Well he could not even get a dial tone. He first contacted AOL and spent 1/2 hour with them determining that the modem was not working. He got in touch with Compaq. After some remote testing the representative decided (after one hour) the modem was bad. An appointment was made to have a technician come out and look at the problem.
The repair person came out two days later and found that the modem was just lying loose inside. Never had been installed or assembled into place.
Next the sound card would not output in stereo, one channel was defective. It took a lot of work to convince Compaq the sound was bad. Another repair person coame out and installed a new sound card
Again the system had to be completely reloaded. This time programs were loaded. WinFax and AOL fought over the modem. This was fixed by removing the modem, AOL and WinFax, and reinstalling everything.
